Riding TRAX last night, I met a man who introduced himself as "Tree".
That's a nice name, I told him. Where did it come from?
"Well, my mother named me Forrest but she said I was too much an individual, so I'm Tree."
"Trees, it could be said, represent the bones of our collective body."
John Vaillant, The Golden Spruce

For sure I have a story with a tree. I call it "my tree". It is in the frontyard of 7001 east tree court in Anchorage, AK.

the house with the 2 jeeps in the driveway. on the right side of the driveway. smallest of all the trees.
that is my tree. My parents planted it with ummm.... my placenta. It's a native custom. Growing up I always wanted my picture next to it. I made sure the moose didn't eat it when it was smaller. I would measure my height with it. At this point it appears to finally have passed me in that. I feel it helps to keep me connected with nature and the outside world.
